Sailing Championship

The Gulf of Cagliari off ers the suitable background
to host important and spectacular sailing events.
Poetto is the beach of Cagliari and Quartu S.E.,
with its very fi ne sand. The southwest limit of the
beach is the characteristic rocky formation known
as the Devil’s Saddle under which there is Marina
Piccola, a little harbour for tourist craft where you
can fi nd the Yacht Club Cagliari, the Lega Navale
Italiana Cagliari and the Windsurfi ng Club.
From Marina Piccola, logistic base of the Yacht
Club Cagliari and LNI Cagliari to the Quartu
Sant’Elena Sailing Center, in the eastern side of
the coast, the Gulf will become a magnifi cent race
area and the evolutions of the boats will of course
arouse enthusiasm and admiration for these
young champions.
This background welcomed the fi rst sailors in
the 60’s. From then on the success of the sailing
events organized in Cagliari and, at the same time,
the achievement of the local athletes in national
and international regattas, confi rmed the qualities
of the Golfo degli Angeli.
With its morphologic and meteorological
conditions the Golfo degli Angeli it’s the ideal race
area with the almost constant presence of the
wind and the mild climate.
