SCIAMPITTA FOLK SHOW

La Sciampitta: this is an international folk show, which is held in the middle of July
Every summer, the City of Quartu and its folk group organise the "Sciampitta", an International Festival of popular music and dances. This event, lasting 6 days, brings on stage some of the most important folk groups on the planet. The traditional costume of Quartu is beautiful and very rich in gold and embroidery, so much so that – in the words of another traveller (D.H. Lawrence, Sea and Sardinia, 1921) - "...they quite place in the shade that of Cagliari and the surrounding villages."
